Ashley Addiction Treatment, MARC and ADB offer life-saving solution to address substance use disorder and mental health concerns among employees for increased productivity, morale and retention
Havre de Grace, Md. (October 2, 2019) โ Ashley Addiction Treatment (Ashley), one of the worldโs most recognizable and respected names in the substance use disorder treatment industry, in collaboration with Maryland Addiction Recovery Center (MARC), a leader in the field of long-term care for addiction, today announced the launch of a new Recovery Ready Workplace pilot program with American Design and Build (ADB). The program will equip small and mid-sized businesses with education and resources to identify substance use disorder and mental health concerns among employees. Program partners will also work closely together to offer workers confidential assessments and individualized treatment program referrals. As many as one in 10 people are thought to struggle with substance use disorder.
โAddiction impacts every workplace whether the signs are clearly recognizable or not,โ said Alex Denstman, VP of business development at Ashley. โThe first step business owners can take is to become educated, then invest in prevention and treatment. Once this shift takes place among business leaders, we will begin to see the benefits mobilize throughout the entire community. Our ultimate goal is for this program to lay the foundation for other treatment centers in cities across the U.S.โ
Addiction and mental health issues are known to lead to absenteeism, accidents and injuries, low morale, decrease in productivity and increase in illness within the workplace. The program, which is being offered at no cost to ADB, accelerates a much-needed solution among small and mid-sized businesses to help employees and their families find a path to long-term healing and recovery.
โSubstance use disorder is a chronic illness that requires participation and investment from all involved to find a successful resolution,โ said Samuel Bierman, executive director and co-founder of MARC. As we continue to fight addiction, it is imperative that businesses recognize the importance of educating and supporting their employees about substance use disorder and mental health. Weโre grateful for the progressive thinking of ADBโs leadership team and are honored to collaborate with Ashley to bring this program to life.โ
ADB is the first company to pilot the new Recovery Ready Workplace program. After changing its policies, the organization has seen steady improvements in performance, productivity and retention among its employees.
โAt ADB, we operate not only as colleagues but as one big happy family, so when we learned that two previously terminated employees had succumbed to their disease, we were devastated,โ said Joe Tunney, president of American Design and Build. โIโm grateful to Ashley and MARC for this opportunity and encourage any organizationโbig or smallโto reach out and establish their own recovery program. I can assure it will result in more dedicated and fulfilled employees and maybe even save someoneโs life in the process.โ
The Recovery Ready Workplace program is the result of Ashley, MARC and ADBโs commitment to reduce the stigma associated with addiction and mental health disorders and help those who are struggling find their own personal recovery solution. The project partners hope to establish a long-term program, which will serve and support many small and mid-sized businesses over time.
