10th Anniversary Mae Abraham Legacy Luncheon a Success!
Spring unofficially arrived in Baltimore on Wednesday, May 17th, with the annual Mae Abraham Legacy Luncheon held at the beautiful Baltimore Four Seasons Hotel. More than 200 guests assembled to honor Rebecca J. Flood, CEO of New Directions for Women, a renowned drug and alcohol treatment center for women located in Costa Mesa, CA. Becky was presented the Mae Abraham Legacy Award for her decades of service, providing care and specialized treatment for countless women and helping them find their path to healing!
Ashley co-founder, Mae Abraham delivered an inspirational address ahead of a delicious lunch menu. The afternoon program was highlighted by the announcement of a campaign to develop the new Womenโs Solarium at Ashley โ a dedicated space where women can convene, relax, and explore an array of activities which support their recovery. Click here for more information about the new Womenโs Solarium.
Ashley Executive Chairman, David Nassef, remarked, โI was struck by the generational range of the speakers,โ he said. โWe began with Mae, telling her story at nearly 90 years of age, then heard Beckyโs inspirational story, and finished with the new Womenโs Solarium designer, Emma, who is in her 30โs. They had different presentations, used different languages, but each had the same message โ โRecovery is Real!โโ
Many of the attendees at the event had similar thoughts about the day. โMy table was just in awe of the recovery and sense of hope that filled the room,โ said Debbi M., who has attended the Luncheon for a number of years. โThey were really touched by Mae – what an amazing power of example! It was just a wonderful day of recovery, love, and connection. I was floating when I left!โ
Please consider making an investment in support of the Womenโs Solariumย or the Mae Abraham Legacy Fund that supports womenโs scholarships and programming at Ashley. We appreciate your generosity!
Development Spotlight: Ashley Leadership Councils
Ashley is very proud to have established a network of passionate and committed volunteers that we refer to as Leadership Councils. These are comprised of dedicated community leaders, professionals, and other individuals, many of whom are grateful former patients or otherwise have a personal connection to Ashley. These volunteers advise and assist the organization in achieving its mission; focused either on a particular geographic region or a specific Council mission.
Current Councils include a Military Leadership Council and the regional groups of Washington DC, Baltimore, Greater New York City, and Greater Philadelphia. Each Council operates independently of the others and establishes its own vision, mission, and charter by which they operate.ย A Leadership Council for Young Adults has just been established and plans for additional Councils are being explored.
